Melbourne Recital Centre, Australia
After only 8 years in service, the Melbourne Recital Centre encountered many issues with their ETC Variable Sine-wave dimmers (discontinued since 2015). As the American manufacturer was not supporting those dimmer modules, the MRC had to look for alternatives. Indeed all Matrix I, II, Power Bars and Power Modules dimming products were no longer manufactured by ETC and left Venues in turmoil. To phase out their existing ETC dimmers, they started with the smallest space they have out of the two. The Salon.
In the tender process, the technical director invited a selected panel of dimmer manufacturers to showcase their most silent dimmers. Noise levels were tested on site with different brands and dimming technologies. The only one (dimmer) matching the requirements (no filament buzz, hum or noise) was the Variable Sine-wave dimmer module by State Automation.
